MOORESVILLE, North Carolina – One year ago, Kyle Weatherman made his superspeedway debut in the Lucas Oil Complete Engine Treatment 200 driven by General Tire at the Daytona International Speedway (MMM). No driver in the field turned more heads than the 19-year-old driver. After starting from the rear of the field he drove his way to an impressive third place effort.
Weatherman will make his 2nd Daytona start this weekend driving the No. 78 Turn One Condos/St. Charles Glass Chevrolet for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM). This will mark the first of ten scheduled starts for Weatherman in 2017 driving for MMM.
“To have the honor to race at Daytona is truly a humbling experience”, a Confident Kyle Weatherman stated. “It’s where racing started and to be able to race here for the second time is very cool. I was fortunate enough to earn a podium finish in my first start here last year. I believe that our team’s hard work will pay off for us this weekend.”
Weatherman made two starts one season ago for MMM earning a runner-up in his debut at Madison after leading 109 laps and a third place finish at the Winchester Speedway.
“I’ve been in the shop a lot in the off-season helping the guys with anything and everything. Mason and I work really well with one another and I am looking forward to having him up on top of the box on race day calling the shots. 80 laps is a long time, if we put ourselves in a good spot in the end of the race I believe we can get the job done.”
Mason Mitchell Motorsports won the last restrictor plate start in the ARCA Racing Series last May at the Talladega Superspeedway.
Chassis Information: Kyle will debut a brand new car for MMM at Daytona. Chassis No. 316 will make its first start. The chassis previously finished 3rd at Talladega in 2012 with Chad Hachenbracht. The car is also an old Hendrick Motorsports chassis.
