Last Race Recap: Chase’s last time in a late model came at the Snowflake 100 where he was a threat for a top-five finish until the closing laps. The DGR-prepared No. 97 car carried Chase in the top ten throughout the event until the closing laps when a parts failure sidelined him with two laps to go. He was credited with a 23rd place finish.
Spring Thaw: Speedfest has traditionally been the kickoff for super late model racing in the southeast. Teams from across the country head south to the warmth of the Georgia climate in hopes of jumpstarting their new racing season. For Chase, this is the kickoff to his super late model schedule of approximately 20 races, but also his first chance to pilot a racecar before his NASCAR K&N Pro Series debut in three weeks at New Smyrna Speedway.
Early To Rise: Chase has never started his season this early in late model competition. Last April he raced in the CARS Tour opener at Southern National Motorsports Park and captured a top-15 finish in his first race with the tour. Prior to late models, Chase participated in “Winter Heat” at Charlotte Motor Speedway in his US Legend Car machine and won the event championship in 2015.
Chase’s Thoughts: “I’m excited and looking forward to getting back in the seat of a super late model again. It’s been way too long! Because my DGR crew prepares the best cars out there, I expect to run well and keep learning all I can about how to run these types of races. The biggest goal is to get back in a rhythm before the K&N race in New Smyrna, and this race gives us the chance to do that. Of course, I wouldn’t be a racer if I didn’t say the ultimate goal is always to compete for the win.”
