Last Race Recap: As a warmup for his NASCAR K&N Pro Series debut, Chase last raced his super late model at New Smyrna Speedway during the opening night of the World Series of Asphalt Short Track Racing. After starting ninth in the 35-lap feature, Chase finished just outside the top five in sixth.
Middle Man: Chase is the “middle man” in relation to his David Gilliland Racing teammates this weekend at the Rattler 250. While one teammate, Raphael Lessard, has a couple of seasons in super late model racing and a CARS Tour championship under his belt, his other teammate, Giovanni Bromante, is making only his third career start in a full-size car and second for DGR. Chase will be serving as a mentor to fellow Legend car graduate Bromante while also leaning on Lessard for additional advice throughout the weekend.
Home State Pressure: Last season at Montgomery Motor Speedway, Chase raced a super late model in his family’s home state for the first time. He finished in the top five but crashed coming to the checkered flag, destroying his primary car in the process. Chase has a new (since then) PRW chassis this weekend for the Rattler, the second event he will be participating in while in Alabama. After two top six finishes to start the season, Chase is looking to improve in front of the hometown crowd.
Chase’s Thoughts: “I fully expect us to contend for the win. I feel like I can take advantage of the great car my DGR guys always give me and the roll we’re on right now. I’m really looking forward to racing close to my family’s home because I spent so much time in this region as a kid. A win here would absolutely mean everything to me and make it an awesome weekend. As much as I hate snakes, I think I could tolerate holding one in victory lane for a few minutes because of what comes along with it.”
