Last Race Recap: Cole competed in the traditional Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway one week ago. The last time the Southern Super Series series raced at Montgomery, he took home the win. Last week, he earned fast time honors but was caught up in two mishaps that ultimately ended his shot at a victory and he finished the feature in eighth.
Paid To Practice: This weekend’s race is the final pro late model race of the year at 5 Flags Speedway before the Snowflake 100, one of the most prestigious pro late model races of the year across the country. Anderson and the No. 97 team have plans to enter it as well as the Snowball Derby on the same weekend, making this weekend’s event a pivotal “paid practice” to tune-up for the Snowflake, just as the race name implies.
Migrating South: As fall settles onto the United States and temperatures begin to drop, Cole Anderson will be doing his best bird imitation by migrating south more often over the next few months. Among the races the team has planned are the one in Pensacola this weekend, the Snowball Derby in December along with other events closer to the equator than their Minnesota home.
Cole’s Thoughts: “The last pro late model race we ran was in Nashville and we struggled to find the handle and then got caught in an early-race incident. This weekend I believe we’re capable of a podium finish, but if we can leave the racetrack with the car in one piece that’s always a plus and will give us something to work with as we move towards the Snowflake.”
