ITS FINALLY HERE! College football is back and we have a great slate of action for this weekend across the country. Here are some games you must watch as well as a few under the radar games that could be good to watch.
Michigan @ Utah – Jim Harbaugh comes home to the Maze n Blue to lead them back to prosperity and the promised land after a string of up and down years in Ann Arbor. Utah is a sleeper in the PAC-12. They could sneak into the PAC-12 title race when it’s all said and done, behind Heisman hopeful RB Devontae Booker.
Prediction: Utah. Utah is simply the better team in this game, Harbaugh and his program will win games this year, but it just wont start here. The last time a head coach won his debut at Michigan it was Brady Hoke, in 2011. The last time a head coach lost his debut was Rich Rodriguez, in 2008 to Appalachian State.
#20 Wisconsin vs #3 Alabama – This game is being played in Jerry’s World in Dallas, TX. The Crimson Tide come into this season with an unknown at quarterback and are dealing with life without WR Amari Cooper and RB T.J. Yeldon. While the Badgers return eight starters on defense, but are also dealing with a big lost themselves, Melvin Gordon III. Wisconsin will be welcoming new Head Coach Paul Chryst.
Prediction: Alabama. This one could get close but in the end I think Saban and the Crimson Tide will be too much for the Badgers on defense but the Alabama offense might be something to watch out for.
#1 Ohio State at Virginia Tech – Ohio State comes into a Raccous Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, VA in the premier game this weekend. Last season Tech went into Columbus and upset the Buckeyes to give them their only defeat last season. This season many watched Bud Foster’s defense get better and that Beamer Ball has returned to the Hokies. Who will the Buckeyes start? Nobody knows, but whoever it is will have Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield to hand off to. Elliott will have to be able to escape a defensive line that features Dadi Nicolas, Luther Maddy and a stout Hokies defense.
Prediction: Ohio State. The Buckeyes are on upset alert as they visit Blacksburg and will need to be at the top of their game to beat Va Tech. The Hokies might shock the world again!!!
#2 TCU at Minnesota – TCU will handle Minnesota easily as the Golden Gophers just wont be able to keep up with Gary Patterson and Heisman favorite QB Trevone Boykin.
#4 Baylor at SMU – SMU still feels the effects of the death penalty all these years later, this game will not be different but it will be nice to see who truly stands out on offense for the Bears.
Louisville at #6 Auburn – Auburn is a team that I think may have been ranked too high heading into the season. The Tigers could be on upset alert early on in the season.
North Carolina at South Carolina – Neither team will be fighting for a spot in the playoff later this season but this game officially opens the season.
Prediction: South Carolina (could be close)
Teams on alert:
Texas at #11 Notre Dame – Notre Dame welcomes Charlie Strong and Texas into South Bend. If Tyrone Swoopes can play well in this game and if the Longhorn defense can get to Malik Zaire then Notre Dame could be in trouble.
#15 Arizona State at Texas A&M – Arizona State goes to College Station to play the Aggies. The Aggies will be going up against a stout Arizona State defense and a team that a lot of people have picked to win the PAC-12 South but they could get derailed.
