Yes, you read that correctly, Jameis Winston had a record day in the NFL. I know, I know, you are just as shocked as I am. Who would of guessed? Jameis Winston in the record books and for a good performance. I have officially heard it all.
Winston tied a rookie record with five touchdown passes against the Philadelphia Eagles, the very team he grew up rooting for. Winston went 19 for 29 with 246 yards and 5 TDs. Winston tied Matthew Stafford‘s rookie mark in the third quarter on an 8-yard toss to Cameron Brate, the fifth receiver to catch a TD.
”I ain’t going to cry, but this is a dream come true for me,” Winston said. ”I always wanted to play here, ever since I was a little boy. I always wanted to be an Eagle. I was even singing the fight song on the sideline. It was a special day for me.”
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers set a franchise record with 283 yards rushing and its 521 total yards were second-most in franchise history in the regular season.
The Buccaneers have found themselves running on all cylinders, winning the last two games and improving to a 5-5 record. Keeping them in contention for a wildcard spot, just behind the Atlanta Falcons (6-4), Minnesota Vikings (7-3) and tied with the Seattle Seahawks (5-5).
