It may seem that the Florida Panthers have a certain way things need to be done and it did not include Gerard Gallant. After a lousy 2nd pd. against the Hurricanes, the front office of the Panthers decided that they had seen enough. Going 11-10-1 starting this season the lack luster play of have key injuries to Jussi Jokinen, Nick Bjustad, and Jonathan Huberdeau who haven’t played this season at all. Gallant was on a 2 year extension with Florida and coming off and impressive year for the Cats. 47 wins and 103 points in the Atlantic division, and a playoff birth for the first time in 4 years. He had all the tools to build something special and it goes without saying that Gallant is a hell of a coach and that he deserved a bit better treatment. With all the injuries in the beginning and these key guys in Jokinen, Bjustad, Huberdeau getting ready to come back, there was still time for him to turn it all around. Yes Barkov and Jagr haven’t been performing, but that’s due to the injuries that have plagued Florida thus far. The firing must have been very tense, for that Gallant’s luggage was taken off the team bus and he was left at PNC arena and had taken a taxi to the airport I imagine. Gallant will coach again, there’s no doubt about that. For now we can only watch as Florida moves on from this point forward. With the front office being a military kind of atmosphere, do they really know what they are doing?
