SI WOO KIM
Many a PGA Tour Veteran has walked away from the PGA CHAMPIONSHIP at Sawgrass Course shaking their heads in awe and, more often than not, dismay.
The layout in Ponte Verde Beach, Florida offers so many challenges, from infamous winds to a daunting 17th hole and everything in between. So perhaps it would be unfair in this case to say South Korean Si Woo Kim played with the calm demeanor of a grizzled veteran for the simple reason that one-by-one all the veterans fell by the wayside in the same way that golf balls seemed to find water all weekend.
No, it is more accurate to say that Kim played BETTER than a veteran in earning only his second career PGA Tour win and, in the process at 21, is also the youngest PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP at Sawgrass Winner in history.
By Sunday, the only two rivals with a chance to catch Kim were Ian Poulter and Louis Oosthuizen. However, the closest they would come was a tie for second three shots back.
Si Woo Kim ended Sunday by shooting a 69, played bogey-free golf all weekend on a course infamous for elevating averages and played a game that belied his age and left everyone who witnessed this tournament, speechless.
