It has become a weekly source of speculation: Will he or won’t he??

Like Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in NASCAR, Tiger Woods makes news whether he is participating in a PGA Tour event or is on the sidelines for another week. Heck, he even is news when NOT holding a Press Conference.

After days of speculation,  Woods cancelled a planned Presser at the GENESIS Open, then withdrew from the event. The 14-time Champion on the PGA Tour cited doctor’s advice, as he is battling recurring back spasms. Woods also withdrew from next week’s event, the HONDA Classic.

This latest delay in Tiger’s return to action on a full PGA Tour schedule will fuel the fire of those who wonder if we will ever see Woods play significant tournament-level golf again. Battling hip, knee, and back injuries in recent seasons, this latest bout with spasms appears to be the most disruptive malady yet.

While swinging a golf club is not the best way to combat back issues, by cancelling the appearance before the press, Tiger is admitting he is not up to sitting in a chair to field questions.

Tiger has always had a competitive fire within him, stoked by his father, Earl, from the tender age of three. Golf followers will now be wondering if Woods will make an appearance at the Riviera Country Club this weekend, especially since a percentage of the gate receipts will benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation.
